The collection consists of a steamer trunk, an abacus, a wood rosary, a briefcase, an iron pot and perhaps an NYK Line passengers list, two diplomas in dressmaking belonging to Hideko Suda, an image of a funeral and an image of Slocan, BC.

 

biography

 

Mr Masao Adachi was a fisherman and carpenter in Queensborough. He was born in 1914 on Mayne Island, BC. During the internment he was sent to Popoff, BC where his daughter Ethel Adachi was born. After Popoff, he went to Jasper, BC and worked as a truck driver. Masao's wife was named Hideko Suda and she passed away in her early 50s.
