| scope and content | The collection consists of a samurai armour acquired by Vancouver artist, Robert Samuel Alexander. The armour includes: a helmet with face mask, neck guard, and spikes; chest and back plate; arm plates; shoulder plates; a waist plate; and leg (shin) plates. |
| biography | Robert Samuel Alexander was born on 25 August 1916 in Vancouver, BC and died on 20 April 1974 in North Vancouver. Robert was an artist and completed his diploma from the Vancouver School of Art in 1947. In 1942 he was elected as a member of the BC Society of Fine Arts. Robert was married to Irene Catelle Porter, who was also an artist.
Robert was friends with Sam and Ruth Yamada. |
