scope and content | This collection consists of four series of documents and photographs relating to Esumatsu Nakatani, memoirs, diaries, lay scriptures, correspondences, day to day business, records of his contributions to the Japanese Canadian community in Grand Forks, and his work in helping to relocate 364 Japanese Canadians to Grand Forks. The four series are: Business Records, Photographs, Personal Records, and Community Records.

biography | Mr. Esumatsu Nakatani lived in Grand Forks and assisted 364 people in relocating to the area during the period of Japanese Canadian forced removal and internment. Mr. Nakatani was born July 22, 1892, and moved to Canada on November 19, 1918. Mr. Nakatani passed away in 1983. |
