The collection consists of traditional and modern fishing equipment that illustrates the equipment used in British Columbia; particularly in Steveston where Japanese Canadians have been fishing for over a century. Butch Sakiyama assembled the traditional and modern fishing nets as examples in the 1990s. The collection also includes a duffel bag, circa 1945, used by Y. Ono during their exile to Japan and return to Canada.
