titlePartial Ledger Cover

descriptionA small, light blue and grey rear cover of a ledger. The cover appears to be wood with a blue cotton fabric covering. On the right hand side of the ledger a metal hinge, which would form the spine of the ledger, is attached. The cover has a paper inlay that has a blue and grey mottled effect. Printed on this paper in faded black ink reads, 'PHONE HIGHLAND 612 NAGAMI CONFECTIONARY'. Below this text is Japanese lettering. Underneath the Japanese lettering reads, '423 POWELL ST. VANCOUVER B.C.'

There is a red ink stain at the upper left corner and lower right of the cover. There is also sticker on the bottom right hand corner. The sticker is black and white and reads 'LUCKETT'S STERLING LINE MADE IN CANADA NO. 8110'.

The reverse of the cover appears ages, with the cotton to be noticeably lighter. There are the remains of a white and red sticker in the center of the cover.

history of use

The ledger cover came from Nagami's Confectionary Store, 423 Powell Street. This store relates to Shigetaka (Steve) Sasaki as the owner of the store, Mrs. H. Nagami was a relative of his and that he may have lived/worked at the store upon his arrival in 1922.
