| history of use | Shigetaka Steve Sasaki is considered to be the "Father of Canadian Judo". In 1924, he opened a club called the Tai Iku Dojo (later renamed the Kidokan by Jigoro Kano) in 1924 on Powell Street. In 1954 Sasaki sensei was elected as the first president of the Canadian Kodokan Black Belt Association (aka Judo Canada today). |
