Magoichi Odamura is the father of Toshio Odamura. He was born February 23, 1880 in Japan. He married Mine Hamada (born November 2, 1881). Mine and Magoichi immigrated to Hawaii in 1905 and then to British Columbia in 1908. From the time of his arrival to British Columbia, Magoichi worked in logging camps, when he then obtained his naturalization papers in 1909. From 1909 he then worked as a fisherman until his fishing license was revoked in 1926. In 1927 Magoichi moved to Haney, B.C where he purchased 10 acres of farm land and raised poultry and grew strawberries and raspberries. When the second world war began, Magoichi and his family went to Hastings Park for two weeks in 1942 and then went in the same year to Slocan City, BC From Slocan City, Magoichi and family moved to Penticton (1947-1954), and then to Vancouver (1954-1965).
