titleCar on Street during Royal Visit; New Westminster, BC

namePhotograph

date1939

descriptionThis item is a black and white photographic print of a car, an open Packard convertible, driving or parked on a street. The date on the recto, May 30, 1939, is likely inaccurate. There is writing in Japanese on the verso of the developed photograph dating it to May 31, 1939, the day of the royal visit by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in New Westminster, BC. The handwritten description also states the Japanese Canadian community (translated: "Japanese compatriots") in New Westminster participated in the welcoming of the monarchs from the United Kingdom.
