Johnston of the Japanese Evacuation Section of the Office of the Custodian of the Department of the Secretary of State of Canada, sent to Mr. Yonezo Uyeda, courtesy of his employer Big Bend Lumber Company in Nakusp, BC, dated November 9, 1949. The letter asks for Yonezo's approval to send books, pictures, and a globe dispossessed from the "Boyne Street School" (referring to the Queensborough Japanese Language School in New Westminster, BC) to Mrs. Kizue Tanaka, The date of receipt of the letter is handwritten in English on the top left corner of the first page. The letter is accompanied by a carbon copy version that includes a space for Yonezo to indicate his approval on the lower left corner, to be sent back to the Office of the Custodian.

This item was likely originally enclosed in the envelope (2025.1.7.3.1) in this file when received by Yonezo Uyeda. The envelope was later used to enclose the remaining items in this file (2025.1.7.3.2-4, 6-9), likely by Yonezo or another member of the Uyeda family. A handwritten copy of the letter sent in reply by Yonezo can be found in this file, item 2025.1.7.3.7.
