history of use | Yasushi Yamazaki as president of the CJA, encouraged the enlistment of Japanese Canadians into the First World War. They were finally able to do so in 1916 when recruitment was at a peak but the men had to travel to Alberta to enlist. When the soldiers were killed, or returning injured, Yasushi took it hard and decided to leave Canada for Manchuria. This photo was taken when he returned to Canada for a visit. |
